What you need to know

What is a flight itinerary — and why does Brazil's eVisa portal require one?

Brazil's eVisa — launched for US, Canadian, Australian, and UK nationals in 2023–2024 — requires two documents that routinely catch applicants unprepared: a flight itinerary showing real flight numbers and routing, and mandatory travel health insurance covering the full stay including medical evacuation. The insurance requirement is categorical: no policy, no visa. The flight itinerary requirement means committing to a planned route before your eVisa is confirmed, which is a real problem given that intercontinental return tickets from North America or Australia can run $800–$1,400. A Flightinary itinerary lets you submit the portal's required proof of travel plans without purchasing a real ticket — built on live GDS aviation data, formatted for gov.br, delivered in 15 minutes.

What a flight itinerary is

A professionally formatted travel document generated from real-time GDS aviation data — genuine flight numbers, correct airline codes, IATA airport identifiers, and accurate departure and arrival times. It documents your intended Brazil trip for eVisa application purposes without requiring you to purchase or hold a real ticket.

Why not just buy a real ticket?

Although Brazil eVisa approval rates are high for eligible nationalities, eVisa processing can take up to 10 business days and dates sometimes shift. Buying a non-refundable intercontinental return ticket — which can run $600–$1,400 from North America or Australia — before your eVisa is in hand is an unnecessary gamble. A flight itinerary for Brazil eVisa submissions costs a fraction, with zero financial exposure.

Does Flightinary's itinerary work for Brazil eVisa submissions?

Yes. Every Flightinary itinerary is generated from live aviation data and formatted to meet Brazil's eVisa portal documentation standards — real flight numbers, carrier codes, proper IATA routing. The document reads as a credible, professionally prepared travel plan, not a homemade printout.

Place your order

Pay a small service fee — not the flight price. Flightinary generates your itinerary from live GDS aviation data in your name, formatted for Brazil eVisa portal submission. Note your planned entry airport: São Paulo–Guarulhos (GRU) handles the most international connections; Rio–Galeão (GIG) is the alternative for Rio arrivals. Full document checklist

Everything you need for a Brazil eVisa application

The Brazil eVisa application is entirely online and generally straightforward — but an incomplete submission resets the queue and can push your approval past your intended travel date. Review this list before you start, and note that a flight itinerary for Brazil eVisa applications is required regardless of your nationality.

Brazil's eVisa processing time is up to 10 business days, but most applications for US, Canadian, Australian, and UK nationals are approved within 3–5 business days. Apply at least 2 weeks before departure to be safe.

Identity & visa form

  • Valid passport

Must have at least 6 months validity beyond your intended departure from Brazil

  • Digital passport photo

Recent colour photograph against a plain white or off-white background, in JPEG format

  • eVisa online application form

Completed at gov.br/mre/en/topics/visas/evisa — save your reference number

  • Application fee payment

$80.90 USD for US and Canadian nationals; similar for UK and Australian nationals — paid by credit card during the online application

Travel itinerary

  • Flight itineraryWe provide this

Inbound flight to Brazil and return or onward departure, with real flight numbers, airline codes, and IATA airport identifiers

  • Accommodation confirmation

Hotel booking, Airbnb confirmation, or invitation letter from a Brazilian host

  • Travel itinerary overview

Brief description of planned activities and cities to visit (optional but recommended for longer stays)

  • Onward travel documents

If transiting through Brazil to a third country — include onward flight itinerary

Financial proof

  • Bank statements

Last 3 months showing adequate funds for your stay — roughly R$500–R$700 (~$100–$140) per day as a guideline

  • Credit card statement

Accepted as supplemental financial proof alongside bank statements

  • Payslips or employment letter

Confirming your income and employment status

  • Travel and health insurance policy

Strongly recommended — medical treatment in Brazil can be expensive for uninsured visitors; may be requested at entry

Ties to home country

  • Employment letter on company letterhead

Confirming your role, approved leave dates, and confirmed return to work — strongly recommended

  • Property ownership or lease

Title deed, land records, or registered rental agreement in your name

  • Family or personal commitments

Marriage certificate, children's documents — demonstrates your intention to return home

  • Business registration

If self-employed — company documents, business licence, or tax filings in your home country

"Ties to home country" is where most applications fail. Travel and health insurance is strongly recommended for Brazil — medical costs can be significant and private hospitals expect payment upfront. While travel insurance is not listed as a mandatory eVisa requirement, it is an important document to carry and may be requested by immigration officers on arrival.

How your nationality affects your Brazil eVisa application

Brazil's eVisa is a relatively new system — launched in 2023–2024 — designed specifically for nationals of countries that previously required a standard embassy visa. If you are not on the eVisa-eligible list, you either travel visa-free (EU, Argentina, Chile, Japan, and most of South America) or must apply via the Brazilian consulate in your country.

Approval rates and processing estimates are based on Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs data and reported applicant experiences (2024–2025). Visa-free nationalities do not require any application. eVisa-eligible nationalities apply fully online.

🔴 Higher consulate refusal — India (~18%), Nigeria (~20%+)

If your nationality requires a Brazilian consulate visa (not eVisa), focus on demonstrating strong financial standing and clear ties to your home country. Prior travel to Schengen or North America improves your profile considerably. Ensure your bank statements show consistent balances — not a last-minute deposit — and obtain a clear, dated employment letter from a credible employer.

🟡 Consulate application — China (~10%), Pakistan (~15%)

For consulate-visa nationalities like India and China, consistency between your stated purpose of travel, your itinerary, your financial proof, and your accommodation documentation is critical. Any mismatch between documents is a common refusal trigger. Apply well in advance — Brazilian consulate processing can run 10–15 business days, and slots may be limited at smaller missions.

Stay rules — explained

How long can you stay in Brazil on an eVisa?

The Brazil eVisa permits up to 90 days per entry, within a maximum of 180 days per year. Unlike a multiple-entry visa with a rolling window, Brazil's 180-day limit is calculated on a calendar year basis — so planning multi-trip visits requires careful tracking.

90

Days maximum per entry

Each eVisa-authorised entry to Brazil permits a stay of up to 90 days, determined by the Federal Police officer at the port of entry.

180

Days maximum per year

Total time spent in Brazil across all entries within a calendar year may not exceed 180 days. Both single and multiple stays count toward this cap.

90

Day extension (once)

You may apply for one 90-day extension of stay at the Federal Police before your initial period expires. Extensions are not automatically granted.

Overstaying your authorised period in Brazil can result in a fine at the Federal Police (Polícia Federal) on departure and may jeopardise future eVisa or consulate visa applications. If you need more time, apply for a 90-day extension at the nearest Federal Police office before your initial authorised period expires.
